Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics in Moscow, constructed by attaching the tripeptide Thr-Lys-Pro to the N-terminus of tuftsin, an endogenous tetrapeptide.
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics in Moscow, constructed by attaching the tripeptide Thr-Lys-Pro to the N-terminus of tuftsin, an endogenous tetrapeptide.
The added tripeptide is a stabilising extension: native tuftsin is degraded very quickly, and the N-terminal addition substantially extends its half-life in solution.
Three of seven residues are proline, which restricts backbone conformation and contributes both to its protease resistance and to its high aqueous solubility.

Vials arrive lyophilized and sealed under nitrogen. Bring the vial fully to room temperature before breaking the seal — opening a cold vial condenses atmospheric moisture onto the cake.
Direct diluent gently against the inside wall of the vial rather than onto the cake, and allow the material to dissolve without agitation. Vortexing shears longer sequences and introduces air.
Lyophilized: -20 C, desiccated. Reconstituted: 2-8 C, use within 30 days.
A full walkthrough is in the reconstitution guide, and the calculator will work out concentration and draw volume for this vial size.
Standard laboratory practice applies: appropriate personal protective equipment, no consumption, no administration to humans or animals, and disposal in accordance with institutional protocol and local regulation.

An endogenous tetrapeptide, Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg. Selank is tuftsin with a stabilising Thr-Lys-Pro extension at the N-terminus.
Three prolines restrict backbone conformation, which contributes to protease resistance and solubility.
